To make your day more enjoyable at the Air Show we have compiled a convenient list of permitted and prohibited items for your reference.

Permitted Items:

The following items are allowed on the flight line. All permitted items will be inspected prior to admission. It is strongly recommended that spectators minimize the number and size of permitted items to reduce delay into the flight line area.

Sealed Clear Water Bottles and Aluminum Cans {you may bring in sealed clear water bottles and drinks in aluminum cans, however, more than 32 oz. per individual is prohibited}

Prohibited Items:

Everyone is subject to search. If prohibited items are found in your possession, you will be asked to return the items to your car or dispose of them.

Possession and use of Marijuana (Health and Safety Code 11362.3 (1) )

Any Other Items Security Personnel deems to be a Security Risk.

Understanding the Security Screening Process

For the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, the Los Angeles County Air Show employs a comprehensive security screening process at all entry points. Every spectator is subject to search, and all permitted items will be inspected prior to admission to the flight line area. This procedure is standard practice for large-scale outdoor events and is designed to ensure a secure environment for families, performers, and staff alike. You can expect to pass through a security checkpoint where bags may be opened, pockets emptied, and personal belongings visually inspected by trained personnel.

To help expedite your entry and minimize wait times, we strongly recommend arriving with your bags already open and ready for inspection. Remove any large items from backpacks or totes, and have your permitted items clearly visible. Avoid bringing unnecessary items, as each additional object slows the screening process for you and those behind you. Bags, Backpacks, and Carriers: Guidelines for Attendees

While the event does not impose a strict clear-bag policy like some other venues, we ask all guests to be mindful of the size and number of bags they bring. Large backpacks, rolling bags, and oversized totes are strongly discouraged, as they slow down the inspection process and take up valuable space in crowded viewing areas. A small purse, fanny pack, or clear plastic bag is ideal for carrying essentials such as sunscreen, keys, and a phone. Remember that all permitted items will be inspected, so pack lightly and keep your belongings organized.

Parents with young children often wonder about diaper bags and strollers. Diaper bags are generally permitted but will be thoroughly searched upon entry; we recommend packing only what you need for the day to avoid delays. Strollers are allowed on the flight line but may be subject to additional screening. Please be considerate of other attendees when positioning strollers in viewing areas, and never leave them unattended. Food and Beverage Policy in Detail

Staying hydrated and nourished is essential for a full day outdoors, and the air show permits sealed clear water bottles and drinks in aluminum cans, provided each container is no larger than 32 ounces per individual. This policy strikes a balance between convenience and security: clear bottles allow security personnel to quickly verify contents, while aluminum cans are lightweight and recyclable. Glass containers, alcohol, and large coolers are not allowed, as they pose safety risks and hinder efficient screening. As for food, the official permitted items list focuses on beverages, but small, sealed snacks such as granola bars, fruit, or sandwiches are typically acceptable as long as they are not in glass containers and pass inspection. However, we advise against bringing full meals or large quantities of food, as it adds weight and clutter. A wide variety of food vendors will be available on site, offering everything from classic fair fare to healthier options. Prohibited Items and Why They're a Risk

The list of prohibited items at the air show is designed to protect everyone in attendance. While the official list explicitly mentions the possession and use of marijuana (per Health and Safety Code 11362.3(1)) and reserves the right to deem any item a security risk, there are several other common items that are not permitted. These typically include, but are not limited to:

Weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives, pepper spray, and stun guns
Fireworks, flares, or other pyrotechnic devices
Drones or other unmanned aerial vehicles (unless prior written authorization is obtained from event management)
Laser pointers or high-powered flashlights that can distract pilots or interfere with aircraft operations
Alcohol, illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia
Glass containers of any size
Large coolers or ice chests
Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, or hoverboards
Pets (service animals are permitted with proper documentation)

These restrictions exist for several reasons. First and foremost, they ensure the safety of the flying display and the thousands of spectators on the ground. Drones, for instance, pose a serious collision hazard to aircraft, and even a small laser pointer can temporarily blind a pilot. Weapons and fireworks are obvious dangers in a crowded environment. Additionally, limiting large containers reduces the burden on security screening and keeps aisles and pathways clear. If you are found with a prohibited item, you will be asked to return it to your vehicle or dispose of it in the provided receptacles. Security personnel have the final say on any questionable item.

Special Items: Medical, Accessibility, and Family Needs

We understand that some attendees may require items that are not explicitly listed as permitted. For medical necessities—such as prescription medications, EpiPens, insulin, or mobility aids—exceptions are generally made on a case-by-case basis. These items will still need to be inspected, but our security team is trained to handle them with discretion and care. If you have a medical condition that requires you to carry specific equipment, please arrive early and inform the security supervisor at the gate. Having a doctor's note or prescription label visible can expedite the process.

Families with infants and young children are welcome. Diaper bags, as mentioned earlier, are allowed but subject to search. Breast pumps, baby food, and formula are also permitted; we recommend packing them in clear containers or in their original packaging for easier inspection. Strollers and wagons are allowed, though you may be asked to collapse them in crowded areas. Service animals are the only animals permitted on the flight line, and they must be under control at all times. Making the Most of Your Visit: Packing Tips

A little preparation goes a long way toward a comfortable and enjoyable air show experience. In addition to your permitted water bottle, consider bringing the following items that are both useful and compliant with event rules:

Sunscreen – High SPF, non-aerosol varieties are best; reapply throughout the day.
Hat and sunglasses – Protect yourself from the Southern California sun.
Ear protection – Especially for children, as jet engines can be very loud; foam earplugs or earmuffs are highly recommended.
Lightweight jacket or hoodie – Mornings and evenings can be cool, even in summer.
Comfortable walking shoes – You'll be on your feet for hours; leave the flip-flops at home.
Cash and cards – For food, merchandise, and any last-minute needs.
Camera – Capture the excitement, but leave tripods and large lenses at home unless you have media credentials.

Conversely, leave behind anything that could slow you down or cause issues at security: large bags, umbrellas (they obstruct views and can be dangerous in crowds), and unnecessary electronics.
